Lamborghini Police Car in London: The World’s Coolest Cop Car
There is a police car traveling in London: It is the car of the year!
A few years ago I remember seeing one of those “Police Slow” signs at the side of the road, upon which some wag had scrawled: “They are, aren’t they?”
Well, if that gentleman or any other miscreant think they can outrun the long arm of the law, let me tell you, its reach has just got a lot longer thanks to a 640bhp Lamborghini Murcielago LP640.
No more BMW 535d patrol cars for our boys in blue. Instead they will have a bellowing Italian 6.5-litre V12 and four-wheel-drive at their disposal, good for 211mph and 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds.
That should have the joy riders giving up and coming quietly before they’ve even managed to hot wire the ignition. The world’s coolest cop car is going to be on display at the Metropolitan Police stand at the MPH ’06 show at London’s Earl’s Court Exhibition Centre which starts today and runs until November 5.

@Max: It is most likely from a drug bust or an event where they seized property. I dont think that they paid for it.
and I am sure it will catch a great many “miscreants” while it is up on blocks at Earls Court Exhibition Centre too.
There is only onee of these cars not a fleet, and it wasnt bought with tax payers money it was donated by the Lamborghini company to the police, the article is misleading in that regard

Even if it was seized, the annual cost of routine maintenance on that particular vehicle is greater than the cost of finanicing the old BMW 535 cars the police normally drive in London!
Even if this extravagant car was donated, the cost burden is still with the tax payers to maintain the car, is it not?

this was a gift from the Lamborghini factory. they gave the car for the first time 2 years ago to the italina police, now they are shareing it with other EU police forces

This car has not and will not ever be an operational Police vehicle it was a promotonal stunt nothing more nothing less, The Met Police have a hard enough time keeping thier fleet of TDi Astras on the road to answer your calls without this to contend with too!

Why would they need that. IF the chase ever got the point where the lambo was the only car still in pursuit would they honestly wreck that car to take out the perp?
It will most probably be used for transporting emergency medical supplies (hearts for transplant etc) Thats what the Italians are using theirs for…
Actually im pretty sure i’ve read before that the car was not bought, but was donated to the department as a gift.
I don’t know if the Brits perform the PIT Maneuver, but I certainly hope they avoid it here.

The car is Lamborghini’s press car the numberplate YEVIL is owned by Lamborghini London and is used for their display cars and for publicity events.
If they didn’t actually buy it, they could have confiscated it from a drug bust.. Police often take the cars and use them for themselves. There is a Corvette in my town taken from drug dealers.
Actually, that car is a pile of dung. I once rubbed my nipples all over the windscreen and the officers fined me, and you know what? The fine said that I had to actually have sex with the two of them. I did so and got paid too.
